Tuesday 29 January 2019

We have had our second meeting at the Wanaka District Club and everyone seems happy with the new venue. It has been great to see a good number of Rotarians coming early to enjoy drinks and fellowship before the meeting. For me this fellowship and fun part of Rotary is very important and I believe this is one of the strong points of the Wanaka Rotary Club. On Friday night we met at Mike and Liz Elliot’s place for drinks to celebrate Robbie Burns. We had a great night with about 40 members and spouses there. Who said old Rotarians cannot have fun. Over the coming months Chris has organised a couple more Friday night drinks evenings. The 4wd weekend trip Ken is organising is now to be held on the 30th/31st March. Because of limited accommodation it will be first in to pay to reserve a place on this trip. I understand Ken will have the eftpos machine at Rotary this coming week to take some money off those coming.

A couple of reminders:

Duties at meetings

If you are roistered for a duty at our weekly meeting and you are unable to attend and even if you have put in an apology it is your responsibility to find someone else to fulfil your duty and also to inform the President.

Apologies

We are having an ongoing problem with people not apologising or apologising late. Last week we had 8 people fall into this category. This has a significant effect on the profitability of the Wanaka District Club providing the meals to us.

We do have a very good apology system in place and it is straight forward to use. If you are having problems PLEASE ASK ME FOR HELP, MY PHONE NUMBER IS 027 2010470

If for some reason you cannot get onto the internet you can phone me and put in an apology and I will make sure your apology is recorded.

PLEASE PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO PUT YOUR APOLOGY IN ON TIME.

See you all on Tuesday

President George
