Tuesday 4 December 2018

Congratulations to all the fishermen who went to Makarora fishing and especially Don for catching the largest fish and winning the competition and the Trophy for Wanaka Rotary. We had a very good attendance out at Glendhu for the evening with Timaru North and great to see so many partners come also.

The trophy has been presented since 2011 and to date Timaru North have won it 4 times and we have also won it 4 times.

This Sunday we are having the Xmas Golf day followed by a meal. I am sure there will be a number of stories told at the 19th hole. I think we are expecting about 56 members and partners at the meal. Thanks Chris and Derek for organising.

The AGM is to be held on the 4th December so do come along and hear what has happened for the year and Debs will be presenting her team for the 2018/ 19 year.

Following the AGM the Directors will be having a short meeting to approve a number of donations.

The following week is the club auction night so look forward to seeing a number of great items to bid on. Please contact Deans or Duncan who are organising the auction about your items etc.

Look forward to seeing you next week and please remember to get that apology in on time!

The Gathering of The Geezers Dinner

Fishing Expedition - Makarora

Earlier in the week 14 intrepid and very expectant Fishermen headed to the Top of Lake Wanaka near where the Makarora enters Lake Wanaka to accumulate sufficient fish, to cater for fellow Rotarians at the Pig on the Spit dinner which was held on Wednesday night at Glendhu Bay, over 50 people enjoyed the evening.

The weather was near perfect for the fishing with over 20 Trout caught. As imagined huge fun was had by those present, tales were told of the many that “got away” and John Milburn filled in the gaps with non stop humour. It can be added that …"What went on tour stays on tour”.

The annual “Longest Trout” competition has been fiercely contested with the North Timaru Club for several years, this year thanks to Don Irvine's whopper the Salver was retained.

Foundation Auction

Tuesday 11 December at Golf Club

Every year we have an auction of items donated by the members of the club to raise money for the Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus

This goes directly towards our contribution to Rotary International and comes back to use via district and global grants.

What should you donate? that is totally up to you but with Christmas just around the corner i am sure you have an item or two that you could easily part with or baking that could be done. Xmas hampers are popular

As well as donated meals out so you can get a group of friends together and have a meal out.

Please let Duncan Boswell ddrlboz@xtra.co.nz 027-3197802 or Deans Hudson deans@alpinebiz.co.nz 027-2793370 know by email or phone what you want to donate so we can record it and bring it to the venue on the night so we can display.

and sell.
