Tuesday 22 May 2018  - President Fran's Message:
Well what a weekend!  I hear that the weather was better than forecast and that the Shelterbox was still in place on Saturday morning and NOBODY had taken up residence  on the Friday night. Rumour has it that Home Hosting was a ‘royal’ success all round.

Well done to the Shelterbox team Packing In and Out. Packing away the shelterbox was tricky to say the least! Thanks to Pam Brown for the excellent organisation of Home Hosting, to the hosts for their hospitality and of course the guests for their participation.

GUEST SPEAKER: Harry Briggs, Master Course Outward Bound

Harry Briggs, our Guest Speaker for the evening, talked about his life long ambition to attend the Outward Bound course in Anakiwa. Harry chose the masters course and turned out to be the oldest there! Age wasn’t a worry though provided your fitness level was acceptable.

Harry faced numerous challenges over 5 days including a ropes course, boating and contemplated life while gazing at the stars on his solo night out at a site marked X on the map.

Harry also received a special recognition for his ability to motivate other participants on his particular course.

A wonderful experience which has really motivated Harry.

Jesse on her pony - Buzzy Bee , Thanks to the RCW see below.....

David Brewer
Secretary
The Rotary Club of Wanaka

20 May 2018

Dear David (on behalf of Rotary),

Thank you so much for the $200.00 from Rotary, this has helped contribute to the expense of getting Jessie to Taupo for the U25 Dressage Championships, this assistance is very much appreciated.

Jessie had an amazing competition on Buzzy Bee, her loan pony. They ended up placing 3rd overall in the Level 1 pony class. He was such a beautiful pony, Jessie was very fortunate to have such a lovely pony for the competition. The four days was an incredible learning experience with huge classes and very high level of competition. While we were up in Taupo we meet many new dressage riders, put names to faces and had the opportunity to watch the top New Zealand riders compete which was fantastic.

Thank you so much for your assistance, which helps rural athletes compete at a national  level.

Regards,
Lucy Fullerton
