Tuesday 13 November 2018 -

Melbourne cup has been and gone and my horse did not come in. John and Jenny Milburn won the best dressed couple so congratulations to them.

Last Sunday a couple of the new members came round to my place along with Debs, Mike and Rosie and had an informal evening going over what Rotary is all about. Also during the week Mike and myself meet at Debs to help with planning for next year. Debs is well on her way to getting her team in place for next year with just a few positions to be filled. It is always a big job finding people that are available in anyone year to fill positions within the club. If you have been asked and are considering please say yes, it is a great way to understand how the club operates at director level.

While we have had a couple of Rotarians transferring to our club this year and 4 new members join we are also going to have a number of members transfer from the Rotary Club of Wanaka to the Aspiring Rotary. It is important for all of us to be on the lookout for new members. We will all have friends in Wanaka who would make good Rotarians if they were only asked and everyday there are people who are moving to Wanaka to live who may well enjoy meeting new people and having fun and making a difference in the Wanaka community. You may even meet people that Aspiring Rotary would be a better club for them to join and I am sure Aspiring would welcome more members; after all they would still be Rotarians. We are all growing older and we must have new members joining or we will soon be an old club. Let’s not keep this fun club to ourselves.

Tomorrow I am off to Highlands with a number of other members to have a fun day with other Rotarians from throughout the district.

See you on Tuesday, have a great weekend

President George
