Three members of the highly acclaimed Auckland Philharmonia will play in Wanaka next month (October 2018).

The concert, presented by the Rotary Club of Wanaka, will take place at Edgewater Resort on Saturday 13 October, and will include two trios by Dvorak and Haydn arranged for violin, oboe and clarinet.

The Koru Trio is made up of:
  • Bede Hanley - principal oboe
  • James Fry - associate principal clarinet
  • Rachel Moody - violin section

Rachel will play a Prelude by Bach for solo violin. James and Bede will play some Klezmer music and they will also play some popular tunes; Summertime, Over the Rainbow and Danny Boy.

“It is rare to have such high calibre talent perform in Wanaka,” said principal organiser Don Irvine. “Tickets are already 50% sold and we expect to sell out.”

The concert follows the very successful, sold out, event in 2016 when the Koru Quintet performed in Wanaka. “That event was very special,” said Don. “It’s great to have Bede, James and Rachel back.”

Tickets for the concert are $35 and can be purchased at Sassy Pants in the Spencer House Mall or by calling Don 021 236 1518.
