Tititea Lodge Spring Clean
Sep 21, 2019 9:00 AM – Sep 22, 2019 2:00 PM

Tititea Lodge Annual Working Bee and social weekend.

21st/22nd September 2019

Leaving Wanaka at 8am 21st September from the Rotary BBQ beside the Rotary playground, meeting the tractor at the Matukituki river crossing at 9am.

Everybody is most welcome, and please feel free for family to attend as well, many hands make light work.

We have a range of things to do from firewood cutting, Prep and paint shed, Turn the old fibre glass tank into a storage shed, Plant out kanuka trees, Seek and destroy Rowans and Cotoneasters around the lodge (this is because the birds are eating the red berries and then poo the seeds throughout the native bush), Reset possum traps, Gravel the drive, Spring clean the kitchen, paint lounge, gardening, general tidying and cleaning, and as we all know we generally find other things to do as well during the weekend.

We have arranged several River crossings for returning. Please advise who will be attending and returning at which crossing time so we can plan meals ASAP. Once we know numbers we can organise carpooling. Please also advise who can provide transport from Wanaka to the Tractor crossing. If the river is low enough 4WD vehicles can cross over too if you wish, otherwise we all sit on the trailer. When we know final numbers we can arrange a menu and advise the cost for the weekend, In the past it has been circa $30 pp. All meals will be catered for including our traditional Saturday night social evening and meal which is always a highlight (no pressure Chris!). bring your favourite thing to drink. This is a really fun social weekend, and all the while, helping the Tititea Lodge Trust get ready for their busy summer season of school kids attending school camps and leadership camps from Mount Aspiring College, Dunstan High School and from several other organisations.

What to bring.

  • Warm clothing as it can get cold including a good jacket and beenie!
  • Gardening gloves
  • Sleeping bag
  • What ever tools you can like Chainsaws, gardening and pruning tools.
  • Chocolate
  • A fun attitude
  • There is No cell phone or internet coverage at the lodge!

There is a selection of garden tools and cleaning products at the lodge.
