Gidday from Margaret and George and ¡Bueno! From Fran!
With the ducks finally back in their nests and with a great page of duck activity in The Sun last Thursday its time to move on to the Book Sale – along with the sale of top soil - the final fundraising activities for the year.
Don’t forget it’s the visit to Tabatha and Jamie’s B&B – The Farm this coming Tuesday – Halloween Night! A separate email will go out for you to respond to Tabatha for numbers and pizza orders! Looking forward to hearing about the ups and downs of the business!
The following Tuesday 7th November is Melbourne Cup day and we are looking to meet in a pub to watch the event. Still sorting the format and location but there will be prizes for something worn on the body! (Note Golf Club not available)
President Fran has flown away on leave of absence to ride her heart out in Patagonia along with a group of like minded mad cyclists. On her first day in Pucon, Chile, they experienced torrential rain, then hail then light rain then sunshine and lots of snow in the upper slopes of the mountains with active volcano Villaricca shrouded in mist. Snow expected tomorrow! A far remove from the fantastic weather we are experiencing this week!
George and I look forward to seeing you all at The Farm Wanaka.

SUMMER SALADS
It's time to start making salads and asparagus turns a basic salad into a meal, plus it adds a visual delight. With the squishy bocconcini and fresh herbs, it goes without saying that it's worth putting on your menu. Add a few nuts add for extra flavour and texture. And, finally, plenty of freshly ground pepper and a squeeze of lemon.
First, combine dressing ingredients in a jar and shake well.
Plunge asparagus into a pot of boiling water for three minutes. Remove while still vibrant green and place into icy water to cool them quickly.
Just before serving, assemble salad - into a large bowl place asparagus, tomatoes, cucumber and bocconcini. Toss with dressing. Season with salt and pepper.
Serve on a large platter, as a starter or side dish
