Wanaka club member George Scott is a driver for Ridgeline Adventures and was able to organise for 8 members of the Swedish Rotary Friendship group to come on a 4WD Safari.
They visited West Wanaka Station, an iconic high country farm in the Matukituki Valley near Wanaka. Apart from the great scenery high above Lake Wanaka we were able to tell them about the early history of not only this farm, but farming in New Zealand
They were able to see and hear about farming sheep, deer and cattle (NZ’s big three) on West Wanaka Station. As a bonus they got to see some of the 14000 sheep being shorn in the farm’s shearing shed, with 7 shearers and 7 shed hands at work.
